Habitat:
Peperomia procumbens is native to Peru. It grows as a creeping epiphyte or lithophyte in tropical rainforests and moist lowland forests, typically from sea level up to 1200 metres. It is usually found trailing over mossy rocks or rooting along tree trunks and fallen logs in deeply shaded, humid environments with high rainfall and stable moisture.

Description:
Peperomia procumbens is a small, creeping or trailing epiphytic herb, forming mats or loose hanging stems that range from 10–40 cm long. The stems are slender, smooth, and green to reddish. Leaves are alternately arranged or subopposite, rounded to broadly ovate, 1.5–4 cm long and 1–3 cm wide, with a fleshy, slightly succulent texture and entire margins. The upper surface is glossy green, while the undersides may show a pale or reddish tint depending on light conditions. The petioles are short, usually under 1 cm. Inflorescences are slender, erect spikes 2–5 cm long, bearing tiny greenish flowers without petals. The plant is primarily grown for its foliage and resembles Peperomia rotundifolia or Peperomia verticillata, though P. procumbens has larger, flatter leaves and a more trailing habit. I need to undertake further taxonomic research on these plants as they may be Peperomia verticiliata.

Cultivation:
Peperomia procumbens prefers warm, humid conditions with bright, indirect light to light shade. Ideal daytime temperatures range from 20–26°C, with nighttime temperatures between 14–18°C. Maintain humidity above 60% and avoid dry air. It thrives in well-drained, airy mixes such as orchid bark, perlite, and peat or coco coir, however mount plants if possible for best results. Water moderately, allowing the top layer of the substrate to dry slightly between waterings, and reduce watering in winter. The preferred soil pH is slightly acidic to neutral (5.5–6.8). Feed once monthly during active growth with a diluted, balanced liquid fertilizer. Suitable for terrariums or hanging containers.
