Coelogyne foerstermannii is from Borneo, Sumatra, and Maluku. In the wild this species is an epiphyte high up in the tree canopy at elevations from sea level to 500 metres. There is a record of a plant found in Sumatra at 1,200 metres. Inflorescences bear c10 flowers that measure 8 cm across. Plants bloom during the spring months and the flowers are beautifully scented.

This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Coelogyne foerstermannii in a pot with fine/medium bark mixed with moss or on a mount. Grow plants in bright light. Plants do not like to dry out and need excellent quality water all year. Plants grow well in an intermediate to warm greenhouse and appreciate night-time temperatures of 16 to 22 degrees and daytime temperatures of 26 to 34 degrees. Plants grow well indoors but unlikely to flower as they need very bright light to bloom.
