This plant is adapted to a wet tropical biome where it enjoys consistent warmth, high humidity, and filtered light that penetrates the dense canopy.

​This plant is an evergreen herbaceous perennial famous for its surreal, almost digital-looking foliage.
​Foliage: The leaves are elliptic to oval-shaped with a matte or velvety texture. The defining feature is the spectacular tricolor camouflage pattern, consisting of patches of dark forest green, medium green, and silvery-white or cream. This "army fatigue" variegation is unique to each leaf.
​Growth Habit: It is a slow-growing, compact plant that typically forms a shrubby, upright habit, reaching 30-60 cm (1-2 feet) in height. Unlike many common Aglaonema hybrids, it can develop a cane-like stem over time.

​Versus Aglaonema commutatum: Common Chinese Evergreens grow much faster and have shiny, leathery leaves with simpler variegation patterns (stripes or speckles), lacking the distinct pixelated, matte camouflage of A. pictum.
​💧 Cultivation and Care
​Aglaonema pictum 'Tricolor' is a warm-growing aroid that requires more specific care than common Aglaonema varieties, demanding high humidity and stable conditions.
​Light: Requires medium to bright, indirect light. While it tolerates lower light, the camouflage pattern is most vibrant in bright, filtered light. Avoid direct sunlight, which will quickly scorch the delicate, velvety leaves.
​Substrate: Needs a very well-draining, airy aroid mix. A blend of peat/coir, perlite, and orchid bark is ideal to retain moisture while ensuring plenty of oxygen reaches the roots.
​Watering: Water when the top 2-3 cm (1 inch) of soil feels dry. Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. It is sensitive to both drying out completely and "wet feet".
