Chamaedorea elegans is a species from central America and is found from Mexico to Costa Rica. In the wild this species grows in seasonal forests. Plants grow to 2-3 metres tall, the length of the leaves varies.

 

This plant is 80 cm and is growing in a pot. Grow Chamaedorea elegans in a large pot, with a soil, perlite and medium/fine bark mix. Grow your plant in moderate light, never in direct sunlight and keep it evenly moist. Grow in an intermediate or cool greenhouse and with night-time temperatures of 11-16 degrees and daytime temperatures of 22 to 28 degrees. This species grows best when given a difference between day and night temperature. Plants are well suited for growing indoors if given the right conditions.
