Dendrochilum filiforme is a varied species from the Philippines. In the wild this species grows in mossy and montane forests as an epiphyte at elevations between 665 and 2,250 metres. Inflorescences measure 20-40 cm, and bear c50-100 small flowers that measures about 7-8 mm across. Plants usually bloom during the autumn, winter, or spring.
These are flowering sized plants growing in pots. Grow Dendrochilum filiforme in a pot, on a mount or in a basket with sphagnum moss mixed with bark or perlite. Give your plant bright light, never direct sunlight and give it a lot of water. We grow our plants sitting in a small amount of water or in trays with matting. Plants grow well in an intermediate to warm greenhouse and will like night-time temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees and day temperatures of 24 to 30 degrees. This species likes a distinct difference between day and night temperature and cool misty air.
