Muehlenbeckia complexa is a species from New Zealand and Lord Howe Island. Plants inhabit open spaces and forests where it will scramble and eventually ‘take over’ and smother other plants in your terrarium. In the wild this species is also a lithophyte and epiphyte. Inflorescences are the same length as the leaves and bear small yellow flowers, the flowers are nicely scented. Plants bloom at any time of the year.

This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Muehlenbeckia complexa on a mount or in a pot and use a chopped moss, soil and fine bark mix as a media. Make sure the plant gets sufficient air movement particularly when gown in humidity above 60%; always ensure that the plant gets moderate to bright light. Plants will wither quickly if allowed to dry. This species is adaptable and likes a warm to cool greenhouse or terrarium with night low temperatures of 11-17 degrees and daytime temperatures of 23-28 degrees. Plants will grow indoors if cooler night temperatures, sufficient light and air circulation are provided.
