Tillandsia usneoides is a species found in North and South America, Bermuda and the Bahamas. In the wild this species inhabits a variety of forest types and is known as far north as Virginia in the US. Although the plants are generally not grown for their flowers, inflorescences are and bear many yellow green flowers that each measure 6 mm across.
This plant is flowering size, upwards up 50cm, and is growing on a hook. Grow Tillandsia usneoides on a mount, hanging from the inside of an aquatic pot or use a hook. Make sure the plant gets sufficient air movement (need clean air away from smoke), particularly when grown in humidity above 70%; always ensure that humidity is sufficiently high and give the plant moderate light. Plants need to be sprayed every day at least once. This species likes an intermediate or cool greenhouse with night low temperatures of 10-17 degrees and daytime temperatures of 19-33 degrees. Plants will grow indoors if cool night temperatures, sufficient humidity and good air circulation are provided.
