Habitat:

Dendrobium indivisum is native to India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Peninsular Malaysia, and parts of Indochina, where it grows as a miniature epiphyte in lowland to lower montane forests. It typically occurs at elevations of 100 to 1000 metres, most often in semi-deciduous forests, where it clings to the thin branches of small trees or shrubs. It thrives in humid, shaded conditions, frequently near forest margins, streams, or secondary forest clearings with filtered light.

Description:

Dendrobium indivisum is a miniature, epiphytic orchid forming dense mats or small tufted clumps. The stems are erect to slightly arching, slender, and measure 2–6 cm long, the leaves are folded and arebin a peculiar zig-zag formation, each about 1–2.5 cm long. The flowers are produced singly or in pairs from the upper nodes of the stem. Each flower is tiny, only about 0.7–1.0 cm across, white to pale pinkish in colour, with a narrow, tubular base. The lip is three-lobed, sometimes faintly marked with pale purple. Flowers are short-lived and usually open for a single day, but plants can bloom successively over a period of weeks.

Cultivation:

Dendrobium indivisum prefers warm to intermediate temperatures, with daytime temperatures of 20–26°C and nighttime lows of 14–18°C. It thrives in bright, filtered light and high humidity (above 70%) with steady airflow. This species grows best mounted on bark or hardwood. Water frequently in warm months, allowing slight drying between applications. In winter, water less often but avoid desiccation. Use rainwater or distilled water, and maintain a slightly acidic substrate (pH 5.5–6.5). Feed very lightly with a dilute orchid fertilizer every 3–4 weeks during active growth.
