Coelogyne asperata is from Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. In the wild this species grows on trees in wet forests at elevations between sea level and 1,600 metres. Inflorescences measure up to 15 cm and bear 4-15 that measure 7 cm across. Plants mostly bloom during the spring and the flowers are scented.

 

This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Coelogyne asperata on a mount, or in a pot or basket with a medium and fine bark mix with moss on top. Grow plants in moderate light, and never direct sunlight. Plants do not like to dry out and need excellent quality water. This plant grows well in an intermediate to warm greenhouse and appreciates night-time temperatures of 15 to 20 degrees and daytime temperatures of 23 to 28 degrees. Plants grow well indoors and will flower if given sufficient light.
