Coelogyne calcicola is from China, India, Myanmar, Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. In the wild this species grows on trees and on limestone rocks in forests at elevations between 1,000 and 1,500 metres. Inflorescences measure up to 20 cm and bear 4-6 nicely scented flowers that measure 7 cm across.

This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Coelogyne calcicola on a mount, in a pot or in a basket with a medium and fine bark mix with moss. Grow plants in moderate shade, and never direct sunlight. Plants do not like to dry out and need decent quality water. This plant grows well in an intermediate greenhouse and appreciates night-time temperatures of 16 to 20 degrees and daytime temperatures of 23 to 28 degrees. Plants need high humidity making them more amenable for a greenhouse. The flowers open more widely when given higher humidity. Plants grow well indoors and will flower if given sufficient light.
