Habitat and Location:

Bulbophyllum depressum, a species found in South East Asia growing on shrubs and trees from 600 to 2,000 metres elevation. This species has even been found on krakatau.

 

Description and Key Features:

Bulbophyllum depressum is a striking small, creeping Bulbophyllum because its flowers are wonderful blend of blood red and bright yellow, with the small flowers making quite the display. The leaves, and pseudobulbs are small, the pseudobulbs are generally spaced under 1 cm apart along rhizomes although plants with wider gaps are known which are geographical variations and probably based on a specific ecological factor. This plant is meticulously grown on a mount, this flowering-size specimen promises to be a distinctive addition to your greenhouse, terrarium, paludarium or indoor space. Thriving in low level light conditions and are almost the perfect Bulbophyllum for the terrarium.

 

Care Instructions:

Grow Bulbophyllum depressum on a mount as it creeps and to mimic how it grows in the wild, ensuring sufficient air movement, especially in humidity above 80%. Provide moderate to low light for growth, spray every day to mimic natural moisture conditions increasing in frequency during warmer weather, and maintain an intermediate or warm greenhouse/terrarium with night temperatures of 16-22 degrees and daytime temperatures of 22-31 degrees. Suitable for indoor growth with ample light, and consistent but less watering schedules.
