Habitat and Location:

Bulbophyllum gracillimum, a species found in Southeast Asia from southern Thailand and Indonesia to New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Fiji. A lowland species, often encountered as a trunk epiphyte in habitat that is very humid, warm and with high rainfall.

 

Description and Key Features:

Bulbophyllum gracillimum is a striking small, creeping Bulbophyllum because its flowers are bright red and have long extensions to their sepals, the yellow form of this species is very rare and is a high-ticket collector’s item. The leaves, and pseudobulbs are small, the pseudobulbs are generally spaced 2.5 cm apart along rhizomes. The pseudobulbs are small and the leave an ovate shape measuring up to 12 cm. These plants are meticulously grown on mounts, this flowering-size specimen promises to be a distinctive addition to your greenhouse, terrarium, paludarium or indoor space. Thriving in low level light conditions and are almost a perfect Bulbophyllum for the terrarium.

 

Care Instructions:

Grow Bulbophyllum gracillimum on a mount as it creeps and to mimic how it grows in the wild, ensuring sufficient air movement, especially in humidity above 80%. Provide moderate to low light for growth, spray every day to mimic natural moisture conditions increasing in frequency during warmer weather, and maintain a warm greenhouse/terrarium with night temperatures of 18-25 degrees and daytime temperatures of 24-31 degrees.
