Bulbophyllum magnum is a species from the Philippines and described in 2013. In the wild this species grows as an epiphyte (trunk?) in dense forest at elevations around 1,200 metres. The leaves are big and measure up to 18cm. Inflorescences measure 15 cm and bear 2-3 flowers that each measure 8-10 cm. Plant blooms during the summer.
This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Bulbophyllum magnum on a mount, in a tray or in a large pot with a moss and medium/fine bark mix. Grow your plant in moderate light, never in direct sunlight and keep it evenly moist. Grow in an intermediate or warm greenhouse and with night-time temperatures of 16-23 degrees and daytime temperatures of 26 to 32 degrees. This species likes a slight difference between day and night temperature. Plants are better suited for a greenhouse but will grow and potentially flower indoors if given the right conditions.
This plant was imported in 2019 from the Philippines.
