Bulbophyllum moniliforme is from Myanmar, Thailand, India, Laos, and Cambodia. In the wild this species is an epiphyte and occasional lithophyte at elevations below 800 metres. Inflorescences measure 2 cm and bear solitary flowers that each measure 2 mm across. Plants bloom during the winter.
 
Grow Bulbophyllum moniliforme on a mount, in moderate light, never in direct sunlight and keep it evenly moist during its growing and flowering season. This species is deciduous and needs to be kept dry when resting. Plants grow well in an intermediate to warm greenhouse or indoors if there a slight difference between day and night temperatures and humidity is sufficient.
