Coelogyne taronensis is from China. In the wild this species is an epiphyte of montane evergreen forest at elevations between 2,400 and 3,500 metres. Inflorescences bear 1-3 flowers that measure 8 cm across. Plants bloom during the spring months.

Grow Coelogyne taronensis in a pot with fine bark mixed with moss or in sphagnum moss. Grow plants in moderate shade, and never in direct or bright sunlight. Plants do not like to dry out and need excellent quality water all year. Plants grow well in a cool greenhouse and appreciate night-time temperatures of 8 to 14 degrees and daytime temperatures of 18 to 24 degrees. Plants grow well indoors and will flower if given a big enough difference between day and night temperature.
