Dendrobium christyanum is a species found in Vietnam, China, and Thailand. In the wild, this species is found growing in mixed coniferous and broadleaved forest at elevations between 800-1,600 metres. The inflorescences emerge from the apex of the pseudobulbs, are short and bear one or two fragrant flowers. The plant blooms during the spring months.

Grow Dendrobium christyanum on a mount with a small amount of coarse moss or in a pot with a medium/fine bark media. Plants grow better on a mount. Flowering is stimulated by light and a difference in day and night temperatures. Grow your plant in moderate to bright light, never in direct sunlight during the summer and give it a lot of water while it's actively growing. Grow plants in a warm or intermediate greenhouse with night-time temperatures of 15 - 22 degrees and daytime temperatures of 25 to 32 degrees. Plants can be grown indoors in suitable conditions but will only flower if given sufficient light.
