Habitat and Location:

Eulophia paniculata, a species from Madagascar. This terrestrial is found at low elevations in the dry open forests at elevations between 1,000 and 1,200 metres. Its habit is rocky and sandy soils in lichen forests.

 

Description and Key Features:

Eulophia paniculata has five angled pseudobulbs and linear, thick green leaves mottled with white. The inflorescences can measure 1.2-1.5 metres long and they bear up to 40 flowers.

 

Care Instructions:

Grow Eulophia paniculata in a pot with a media consisting of fine bark, soil, stones, charcoal, perlite, sand and grit. Ensure the plant is in bright shade and it has a wet/dry cycle. Feed lightly in every water. Maintain an intermediate to warm greenhouse or terrarium/paludarium (take note of the potential length of the inflorescence) with night temperatures of 14-18 degrees and daytime temperatures of 25-31 degrees. Suitable for indoor growth if it gets a difference in day and night temperature and light.
