Habitat and Location:

Eulophia roseovariegata, a species from west and north west Madagascar. This terrestrial is found in the dry open forests. Its habit is in mossy crack and crevices where the moss is mostly dry. Also found in rocky and sandy soils in forests which receive high amounts of night fog which also bring moisture.

 

Description and Key Features:

Eulophia roseovariegata has small pseudobulbs which measure 1-2 cm. The leaves measure 3-5 cm long and are a black/dark purple colour mottled with rose. Inflorescences can measure 55 cm long and they bear many flowers.

 

Care Instructions:

Grow Eulophia roseovariegata in a pot with a media consisting of fine bark, stones, charcoal, perlite, sand, and grit. Ensure the plant is in bright shade and it has a wet/dry cycle. Feed lightly in every water. Maintain an intermediate to warm greenhouse or terrarium/paludarium (take note of the potential length of the inflorescence) with night temperatures of 14-18 degrees and daytime temperatures of 25-31 degrees. Suitable for indoor growth if it gets a difference in day and night temperature and light.
