Guarianthe aurantiaca has been recorded in the wild from Mexico to Costa Rica. This species is an epiphyte on exposed tree branches. The species is also recorded as a lithophyte inhabiting rocky outcrops and cliffs at elevations between 300 – 1,600 metres. Inflorescences measure 15 cm and produce a c10 flowers, the flowers measure 2.5 cm making them the smallest in the genus. Plants flower during the early spring.

 

This is a flowering size plant, and it is growing in a pot. Grow Guarianthe aurantiaca on a mount or in a pot/basket with a quick drying medium to coarse bark media. It is very important to ensure that plants dry quickly. Keep plants drier during the winter. Grow your plant in very bright light. This species needs air movement to prevent the leaves from burning when given maximum light. This species grows well in an intermediate to warm greenhouse and needs night-time temperatures of 16 - 20 degrees and daytime temperatures of 26 to 30 degrees. This species can be grown easily indoors if given suitable conditions.
