Habitat and Location:

Impatiens omeiana, an endemic species to China growing in Sichuan province. Plants were originally collected from one mountain; its name is the species epithet. Found growing on the forest floor in shaded, damp and humid places.

 

Description and Key Features:

Impatiens omeiana is an easy to grow species, the flower colour varies as does the leaf patterning. The plant measures 30-35 cm tall. This clone is as the picture with the pink colouring being quite consistent.

 

Care Instructions:

Grow Impatiens omeiana in a pot with a media consisting of fine bark, soil, perlite, grit and moss. Ensure the plant is shaded and does not dry out. Provide low light for growth and flowers, never let the media dry out completely, keep watering consistent and feed lightly in every water from April to after flowering. Maintain an intermediate to cool greenhouse or larger lower lit paludarium with night temperatures of 11-18 degrees and daytime temperatures of 22-31 degrees. Suitable for indoor growth if it gets a difference in day and night temperature and a cold winter rest.
