Mammillaria bocasana is a clumping species from Mexico. This species inhabits canyons cut into igneous rock where it is found growing under bushes in bright light and with other plants. This species is found at elevations between 1,600 and 2,300 metres. Stems measure up to 12 cm and bear a ring of flowers near the apex of the stem. Plants bloom at any time of the year, the flowers are a pink or cream colour.

 

This plant is flowering size and is growing in a pot. Grow Mammillaria bocasana in a pot and use a media of gravel, sand, perlite, and fine bark. Make sure the plant gets sufficient air movement particularly when gown in humidity above 60%; always ensure that the amount of light given is bright. Plants need to be grown dry; plants will rot if they stay wet for long. This species likes an intermediate to cool greenhouse with night low temperatures of 11-17 degrees and daytime temperatures of 23-30 degrees. Plants will grow indoors if cooler night temperatures, sufficient humidity and air circulation are provided.
